Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to pass on the good news. The PFA voted in Kim Glinski for Treasurer And Amy Tucker as Vice President. We will now have a full PFA Presidency to begin our new year at the Academy. Thank You Kim and Amy for stepping up to join.
We also approved $6,000 to be given to the Academy for their "Save our Academy" fundraiser. A check will be given to the Academy later this week. A big Thank You goes out to each of you who voted to support our Academy.

Box Tops are up!
Our Box Top account is set up!!!!!! Headmaster was kind enough to stay late after school and set this up with me. Michelle now has a big job on her hands with collections! Let us know if you are willing to help her.
Please do not hesitate to send Box Top upc codes in! The more the better!
T-shirt Coordinator
We are in need of a t-shirt coordinator. This person would collect order forms, place orders, help with filling orders, work with the PFA Treasurer on monetary collections, etc.
We plan to do t-shirt sales/orders once a trimester. August, November, and March will be the months we fill orders. You can order a t-shirt any time on our website but we will not fill orders until those dates. The t-shirt coordinator would advertise t-shirt sales, take orders, and notify the PFA when orders are ready. T-shirts will be available for pick up at PFA meetings.
Please email ncapfa@gmail.com if you are willing to help in this capacity. Thank you!

Child Care, Voting, Membership Perks
Here a couple things for tomorrow's meeting;
There is a nursery and we have a few teens willing to watch kids. However, we only have a few. If your teen is willing to come and help we'd greatly appreciate it.
That being said, there will be "limited" babysitting. If you have another option for childcare, we'd ask that you use it in hopes to not overrun our few volunteers. But, by all means, bring little ones if means otherwise you'd have to miss the meeting.
Eventually we'll have money to pay babysitters, and have child care at every meeting. Soon, very soon!
All voting, and anything done officially as a PFA will be for members only. If you want to vote in tomorrow's election, or anything else we decide as a PFA, only those who have paid their dues (at the meeting or prior) will be counted. Those people who have paid their dues prior or during tomorrow's meeting, and who are unable to attend, will have the option of voting via email until Wed. No votes after Wed will be counted. This option will be available to all members who are unable to attend our meetings. Your votes count!
We also plan to offer Minutemen t-shirt discounts to PFA members. So, it pays to join! We are also working out other benefits. Ideas are welcome.

We had a wonderful meeting last night, and wanted to thank everyone for coming. Dues & Tax Exemption
Now that we are an official non profit corporation according to the State of Idaho, we are in the process of setting up our bank account and submitting our paperwork for our 501c3. This paperwork will make it possible to receive many types of grants, give you a tax write off for all donations, and open up more doors for us as a non profit corporation.
Until we have our 501c3 paperwork processed, any donations will not be tax deductible. However, we still hope that does not deter you from supporting our organization, and all the wonderful things we will be doing for NCA kids!
We are now calling all parents to become official PFA members! With your payment of $5 per person, per year, you will have voting rights in the PFA. We are also working on other perks for becoming a member. With elections fast approaching, and our budget proposal for the year, we need our members to take an active roll by voting on how PFA dollars are spent.
At our next meeting, please bring your $5 and become official! Thank you!
Congrats and Vacant Seats
We wanted to congratulate Carolina McArthur and Mitch Miller on their appointments to the board of directors of NCA! I know they will both serve well.
This also leaves our PFA with two holes to fill. We need a new Parent Representative (executive board seat), and a Volunteer Coordinator. Both of these positions are leadership in the PFA. The Parent Rep is part of the PFA Presidency, and part of the NCA executive committee. The Volunteer Coordinator is part of the PFA Council.
Board members are always allowed to be members of the PFA, and join in on any committee, but cannot serve in leadership positions. So, we are looking to fill those gaps.
Is that you? Would you like to serve in the PFA? Elections are coming up, and we'd love as many nominations as possible.

2009-2010 Activity Planning & Elections
Soon we'll be having our meeting to plan the activities for the upcoming school year. The PFA Council will meet and decide those. We would love your input and ideas. Please email any fun or educational ideas you would really like to see. If you would like to participate on these committees, to give input, please let us know.
This next PFA meeting and our upcoming meetings will be very important. First we'll be having elections to officially elect our PFA leadership. We also need a few more committee leaders, since there have been some changes. All leadership positions are up for election, so be thinking of nominations;
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Parent Representative (sits on exectutive committee with the board)
Be thinking about what you might be able to do in regards to our committees, too. I will post those openings soon (as soon as I hear back from a few people).
Our status as an official non-profit organization is awaiting the Secretary of State of Idaho. As soon as we hear back, we'll be "official." When that is complete, we'll be having a membership drive. We'll collect dues of $5 per person. This makes you an official member of the PFA with voting rights.
Our official votes will start with elections, then we'll vote on our budget for the school year. Your input is very imporant. If you would like a say in how PFA dollars are spent, then please particiapte! We'd love to have you!
Rummage Sale Update
I am healing from a sunburn from the Rummage Sale, and I'm sure some of the other helpers, are too. But, despite that, it was a fun day getting to know everyone, and be out for a good cause.
I will let Christine announce the profits from the sale, but wanted to send a big thanks to her (Christine Plummer, our Fundraising Coordinator) for all her hard work and efforts toward this. I also wanted to thank Holle for her efforts, along with Ramona and Piper for the volunteering. We couldn't have done this without you!
We had multpile other families who pitched and I'm sorry for mentioning everyone, but especially wanted to thank those who donated 10% of their own personal sales.
Thank you everyone!

Individual Yard Sales- This will be for anyone interested in conducting
their own yard sale to earn money for their children’s uniforms. You
can sell traditional yard sale items, cookies, lemonade, gift baskets,
crafts, ect. Be creative! The goal of this is to provide parents with
an opportunity to be self sufficient in paying for their children’s
uniforms. There will be restrooms available in the church’s picnic
pavilion. Everyone will have a designated area that will probably be
determined by drawing numbers. The PFA will in exchange ask that you
donate 10% of your profit, or some nice items to the general sale, to
benefit the uniform scholarship fund. You will be responsible for
running your yard sale, and bringing any chairs or tables you may need.
You can reserve your spot by calling Christine Plummer at 208-337-2031
or e-mail at plum83607@gmail.com Please include your name, contact

Placement Testing
For anyone still needing to RSVP or any help with scheduling, please contact Carolina McArthur mcarthur.carolina@gmail.com. She is working closely with Mr. Moffett to coordinate the testing.
Again, please remember to be patient during this process. We are doing the best we can to juggle hundreds of children with only 10 proctors. It will be a slow process, but well worth it.
These tests really aren't "tests." They are more geared to see where any gaps may be in our children's knowledge. They are just to create a knowledge base and find the right curriculum strand to fill the gap.
The children will only be testing on Language Arts and Math. This is very specific testing, and usually goes quickly for the younger kids. The older children will take slightly longer. After being trained to do the proctoring I'm thrilled my children are being tested. I have the full conficidence this curriculum (Direct Instruction) will benefit not only my children, but all children.
Please also remember to thank the proctors who have donated and will donate MANY HOURS to this process. It's a big job!

Testing & Proctors
All those who volunteered to proctor placement exams need to send a quick email to Carolina McArthur mac_pcm@hotmail.com (our Volunteer Coordinator). She will be organizing the schedule for volunteers and needs everyone's names and contact information.
Anyone wanting to help, please do so. Mr Moffett does hope for a year committment, but this is not a "full time committment." Everyone will take turns and help according to their schedules, but the need to retrain people is the problem with people not being committed. Most shifts should be quick if we get enough help.
Also, we hope all parents are patient during these exams. With just a few helpers, and hundreds of children, the likelihood of the exams being quick and painless is slim. Please be patient and work with all of us we get through this huge task. Thank you!!!!!!

Future Meeting Changes
After looking at scheduling, and how best to represent the parent vote at each Executive Committee meeting, we have decided to hold PFA meetings on the last Thursday of each month. This will give our PFA (Parent) Representative time to attend our PFA Meetings, gather votes, and represent them at the Executive Committee meeting the next week. Our April 2nd meeting still stands, but we'll be adding a meeting in April and going from there. Please see our calendar on our website for further updates. www.ncapfa.org
The schedule of meetings looks like this;
1st Monday - Executive Committee Meeting
2nd Week - PFA Presidency Meeting (Presidency members only)
3rd Monday - NCA Board Meeting
4th Thursday - General PFA Meeting (PFA Council Meeting 1 hour prior to general meeting)
