T-shirt Coordinator

We are in need of a t-shirt coordinator. This person would collect order forms, place orders, help with filling orders, work with the PFA Treasurer on monetary collections, etc.

We plan to do t-shirt sales/orders once a trimester. August, November, and March will be the months we fill orders. You can order a t-shirt any time on our website but we will not fill orders until those dates. The t-shirt coordinator would advertise t-shirt sales, take orders, and notify the PFA when orders are ready. T-shirts will be available for pick up at PFA meetings.

Please email ncapfa@gmail.com if you are willing to help in this capacity. Thank you!

Typo and Reminder

Denise found a typo in my unifrom picture post. It's brown and black shoes, not blue. Sorry, if this confused anyone else.

Just print out the policy and take it with you when you shop. Plus, Terri at TS Embroidery has really tried hard to know what we need, and she can help.

Just remember, cardigans and polos need the logo, and blazers need the crest. If you haven't gotten this done yet, you may want to get these now. The end of July is the cut-off for Terri to guarentee orders by the start of school.

Rummage Sale Update!

June 6th Rummage Sale Update!

23 days left! We have a wonderful location for our sale at the
Karcher Church of the Nazarene. There is lots of traffic (potential
customers!), and plenty of parking. We will be setting up in the
grass, so feel free to bring your beach umbrellas, or canopies for
shade! We will also be right by the church's playground, that is
surrounded by a short fence, so your children will have a fun day
too! We couldn't ask for a better location!

Remember, get creative! If you don't have enough items to do a yard
sale on your own, find other parents through the google groups and
partner up! Sell iced tea, or lemonade! If you have a home based
business, bring it along! (sorry, Scentsy is taken!) Ask friends and
family if they could donate any unused items lying around the house.

If you are not holding your own yard sale, please volunteer and/or
donate items to the PFA General Sale. (Financial contributions are
also welcome for the uniform fund!)

I'm looking forward to everyone pulling together to make this Rummage
Sale a huge success!

Please contact Sarah Edwards to donate, volunteer, or reserve a spot
for an individual yard sale.

Lands End Sale

Polos are on sale at Lands End, along with a few other items.  I am getting some myself for volunteering so I look like my kids!  Be careful though, there is a really cheap polo in kids sizes that is "deep burgundy" instead of "burgundy".  We are just the "burgundy" color from what I can tell. You can also tell them apart because all other uniform colors are burgundy. That particular polo is different. You can always call Lands End and ask, but just be sure to stay in the uniform section of the website.  You can order swatches of pretty much anything at Lands End.  I'm doing that so I have quick reference cards in my purse at all times.  Still, I plan to return any items that don't match the things I bought from TS Embroidery.

Swatches & Tips

For requesting swatches from Lands End you need to go to the uniform section, click on the item you would like to buy, and then you can request the swatch right from that page.  I clicked on navy pants, and it gave me the option of the khaki and navy color.  Both of which match our Academy colors.  Here's the link
UniformStainWrinkleResistantChinoPants~144680_1189.html

One other think I have noticed is, if you don't stay in the uniform section of the website, you do run the risk of getting the wrong color.  I almost did this, by clicking on a sale item.

The other thing I noticed is that JCPenney has the uniform pants mixed in with the other dress slacks in the husky boys section (of all places) at the Garrity store.  All the more confusing for those of us learning the ropes.

Even ordering online we could end up getting an order that was filled incorrectly. What I have found to be the easiest are these things when shopping are;

1. Shop TS Embroidery first (she is so helpful, you can try things on, she's cheaper, and can order to fit most sizes).
2. Stay within the uniform section of all websites (don't get fooled by sale banners).
3. Keep a swatch with you at all times during these spring and summer months, so you don't miss a great sale.
4. Keep in mind that most all the stores only carry one brand in their uniform section.
5. Don't stress too much, and keep receipts!  We'll get the hang of this soon!

Lands End Swatches

I requested swatches from Lands End only a couple days ago, and already got them in the mail. They are perfectly sized to put in your purse when shopping. The colors are right on, as well.

Kym, can you email me the new uniform policy and other info for the PFA website? Thanks!!!!!

Another uniform update

I went to JCPenney today.  My kids needed new church clothes, so I'm purposely buying clothes that fit within the dress code so they can be school clothes, too.

There were two colors of khaki at JCPenney.  One that matched TS Embroidery colors, and one was lighter.  I brought my "samples" to match them up.  Even at the "approved" retailers you'll need to be careful.  I still think TS Embroidery is the perfect place to start, and use those to match everything else.  So far she is cheaper than anything else.  We found better sizing at JCP (better fits), and thankfully only paid pennies more.  I even found a pair of shorts (according to the dress code) for less than a dollar!  Only pair though.

They are also having a shoe sale (buy one, get one for $1).  It comes out to about $15 per pair. You can find approved shoes anywhere, but these are really good quality ones.

I think it's a good idea to go to these stores and try things on.  I now know what to order when we need more. You can save shipping by having it shipped to the store.

Remember, the only things that require embroidery are the polos, and the cardigans & blazers. The blazers will have the crest which is a patch.  Your oxford shirts do not need embroidery.  TS Embroidery has these very cheap.

JCPenney carries stain resistant & wrinkle resistant clothes.  TS Emb is only wrinkle resistant.

I also did see the powder blue and maroon polos at JCP.  They are cheaper at TS Emb, though. It comes out to about $12-13 a shirt at TS Emb and $15 at JCP (that inlcludes the embroidery price).

TS Embroidery, uniform info

I just went to Teri's house (TS Embroidery) and had my kids try on all the different styles and types.  I would strongly suggest everyone do this.  I bought one of each color of polos and pants/skorts so I can take these with me as I shop.  She has great prices, but I really think you'll be able to find things other places even cheaper if you shop smart.  You won't be able to match up colors right if you don't start with something on the approved list, though.  The uniform policy does allow for flexibility, but if you start with the right colors and styles it makes it so much easier to visualize it all, and not make a mistake when shopping.

I'm going to pace out my shopping and not get caught in the rush. She said some styles and sizes take a couple months to get in. She will have on hand many of them, but sometimes they take a while. Don't wait! Don't get caught ordering everything last minute, and then not have your things done in time. The only things that require embroidery are polos and blazers/sweaters. That makes it easier, but you still don't want to wait.  She does Idaho Arts Chater, too.

I have invited Teri to come to our PFA meeting and bring some samples.  She may even have time to do fittings and orders as well.

Uniform Resources

I have added a page to our website www.ncapfa.org for uniform specifics.  Eventually we will also include photographs of the clothing for your reference.  I have included links to the approved retailers.  I will also keep the most updated uniform policy available on the page, as well.

PFA Calendar

Which would you prefer regarding the moderation of the google group? PFA blog posts will still be posted on the google group either way, but it's up to parents how much involvment you'd like the PFA to have in moderating.

What would you like our Art Program to be named?
